DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Prepare, certify and maintain a journal of the proceedings of the City Council. Record ordinances enacted by the City Council. Record local laws and notify the State Comptroller and Secretary of State of same. Publish notices advertising matters or proceedings required by ordinance or law. Conduct elections, including recruiting, scheduling and supervising the training of election inspectors, arranging for polling places, and the set up of voting machines. Issue marriage licenses and keep permanent records thereof. Issue dog licenses and keep records thereof. Issue birth and death certificates and keep permanent records thereof. Perform the civil service functions for the City of Ogdensburg.

CIVIL SERVICE

Civil Service exams applicable to the City, Ogdensburg School District, Ogdensburg Public Library, Frederic Remington Art Museum and Ogdensburg Housing Authority are administered through this office.

Upcoming exams are posted in the City Clerk's Office, the office where the job opening is, the Ogdensburg Public Library, and the NYS Department of Labor. They are also announced in the Ogdensburg Journal, the Watertown Times and on WSLB/WPAC Radio Stations.

There is a $15.00 fee to take an exam and there is a residence requirement to sit for most exams.
