Requirements for a License

First Marriage for Both Parties

For parties 18 years of age:

  • Both parties must be present
  • Proper identification is required (*see list of accepted documents below)

For parties 16 to 17 years of age:

  • Both parties must be present
  • Written, notarized consent of both parents
  • Both parents of minors must be present when the marriage license is taken out
  • Proper identification is required (*see list of accepted documents below)

For parties 14 to 15 years of age:

  • Parental consent and a court order are needed
  • Proper identification is required (*see list of accepted documents below)

Second Marriage for Either Party

  • Both parties must be present
  • Proper identification is required (*see list of accepted documents below)
  • Copy of each and every divorce decree with the seal / stamp of the County Clerk showing the filing date and Judge’s signature

General Information

  • Fee is $40
  • There is a 24-hour waiting period once the license has been issued
  • License is valid for 60 days
  • *Proper identification includes:  certified birth certificate and driver's license, non-driver's ID, or a valid passport
