The City owns properties for every day business and public use.  Additionally, the City has properties that are held until it is determined that the property can be sold in a manner most advantageous to the citizens of Ogdensburg.

Surplus Property
By clicking the "Property for Sale" link below you will be able to view all property deemed surplus by the City and available for sale. There is a description and photo available as you scroll through the file. How to Begin Auction Process for Surplus Properties

If you are interested in any of the surplus properties, please send a letter of interest to the City Manager, 330 Ford Street, Room 1, Ogdensburg, NY 13669 indicating the tax map number of the parcel you are interested in.  Please include your name, address, and contact phone number.

All letters of interest will be presented at the following Council meeting to call for a public hearing that is normally (but not always) scheduled for the next Council meeting. After the public hearing, Council will either deny or approve auction of the parcel(s). If approved, the date for auction will be set at least 3 weeks after the public hearing as the City is required to provide 3 weeks public notice.  

The parcels listed under "Surplus Property" on this website page are auctioned on a case by case basis as people are interested.

Please Note**

All sales require approval from City Council and are subject to auction sale.

All properties will be sold with a Quit Claim Deed, as-is, no warranties.

Some properties come with restrictions and conditions, please be sure you understand what they are, and what you must do.

Attorney fees, survey costs, and deed filing fees (as required per property) are included in the minimum bid that will be accepted by the City.

A 10 percent down-payment is due on auction day from the winning bidder.

 City of Ogdensburg, New York, Tax Sale for 2016 Unpaid Taxes Levied in the City of Ogdensburg.

Take Notice: Pursuant to the power and authority vested in me by Article 17, Section C-81 of the laws of 1970, as amended, said chapter being known as the City Charter, I shall sell at public Auction on the 27th day of June 2017, and on succeeding days, at 10:00 a.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Ogdensburg, New York, aforesaid unpaid taxes thereon and to discharge the tax, penalty, interest and expenses which shall be due at the time of sale.

If all said parcels of land are not sold on the 27th day of June 2017, the sale shall be continued until closed at the discretion of the City Comptroller.

The amount set opposite each parcel is the amount of tax due and unpaid on same, together with interest thereon and fees of collection and expenses of said sale.

No bids to be received in sums less than said amounts.
