How to Begin Auction Process for Surplus Properties

If you are interested in any of the surplus properties, please send a letter of interest to the City Manager, 330 Ford Street, Room 1, Ogdensburg, NY 13669 indicating the tax map number of the parcel you are interested in.  Please include your name, address, and contact phone number.

All letters of interest will be presented at the following Council meeting to call for a public hearing that is normally (but not always) scheduled for the next Council meeting. After the public hearing, Council will either deny or approve auction of the parcel(s). If approved, the date for auction will be set at least 3 weeks after the public hearing as the City is required to provide 3 weeks public notice.  

The parcels listed under "Surplus Property" on this website page are auctioned on a case by case basis as people are interested.

Please Note**

All sales require approval from City Council and are subject to auction sale.

All properties will be sold with a Quit Claim Deed, as-is, no warranties.

Some properties come with restrictions and conditions, please be sure you understand what they are, and what you must do.

Attorney fees, survey costs, and deed filing fees (as required per property) are included in the minimum bid that will be accepted by the City.

A 10 percent down-payment is due on auction day from the winning bidder.

Property Tax Lien (Foreclosure) Auction

The City of Ogdensburg, New York, Tax Sale for 2017 Unpaid Taxes Levied in the City of Ogdensburg was held on June 27, 2018. 

Please note that property owners have until the day of the tax lien auction to pay amounts owed.  Some properties listed may not be auctioned.

Tax Lien Sale Conditions

Tax Lien properties and auction date are advertised in the Ogdensburg Journal/Advance newspaper and will be available on this webpage in May, annually. The Tax Lien property auction is held at the end of June, annually.
