Community Development Block Grant
Community Development Block Grant Programs (CDBG)

Funded by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Beginning in 1974, the CDBG program is one of the longest continuously run programs at HUD. The CDBG program provides annual grants for revitalizing neighborhoods, economic development, and providing improved community facilities and services.


2015 New York Avenue CDBG

The City of Ogdensburg is pleased to announce the award of $400,000 from the New York State Office of Homes and Community Renewal for home improvements within the New York Avenue target area.  The program will assist 10-12 eligible single-family homes with improvements such as roofing, window replacement, painting and siding, along with energy conservation measures including insulation, new furnaces, and replacement of hot water heaters.  Program activities are aimed at eliminating conditions that are, or are likely to become hazardous to the health and safety of local residents.

The program is open to owner-occupied single-family homes within the New York Avenue Target Area (click here for map).  Households with income less than 80% of the area median income as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), identified below may be eligible:

The Program Handbook and Application to participate in the New York Avenue Single-Family Rehabilitation Program are available below or at the City’s Planning and Development Office, City Hall, 330 Ford Street, Room 11, Ogdensburg.

Applications must be received in the City’s Planning and Development Office by 3:00 PM, Friday, September 18, 2015 to be considered for funding.
