for the purpose of genealogical research or other reasons, copies may be
obtained from our office upon receipt of the following necessary

As of April 24, 2006, you may pay for birth, death, marriage and genealogical records thru the Internet.
By going to the attached website link and you may order using your credit card,
debit card, or with an electronic check. CLICK HERE and order on-line.
Birth Certificates
- Name given at birth, date of birth, father's name and mother's maiden name are required
- Birth certificates are available to the parents listed on the birth certificate, or the child.
You will need to produce a form of ID.
- Certified copies are $10.00
Death Certificates
- Name of the deceased and date of death are required
- Death certificates are available to a family member or someone for a legal or lawful purpose
- Certified copies are $10.00
Marriage Licenses
- Names of bride and groom and the date of marriage is required
- Marriage licenses are available to only the bride or groom with proper ID
- Certified copies are $10.00
Genealogy
- No information shall be released from a birth record unless the record has been on file
for at least 75 years
- No information shall be released from a death record unless the record has been on file
for at least 50 years
- No information shall be released from a marriage record unless the record has been on
file for at least 50 years
- The City of Ogdensburg charges a fee of $22.00 for each genealogical
search requested.
For births and deaths that occurred outside the corporate City limits of Ogdensburg, contact the local municipal clerk of the town or village in which the birth or death took place or you may go to www.vitalchek.com.
For births and deaths that occurred at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, the information is
now on file at the City Clerk's Office.
Marriage certificates will be on file where the marriage license was purchased, not where the marriage ceremony was performed.
