Detective Jason A. Streeter, Ogdensburg Police Department, has been a DARE instructor for two years. He attended a two-week training at the Fire Academy in Montour Falls.

The DARE program is broken up into 10 lessons which cover a variety of topics to include communication skills, stress, health effects of alcohol and tobacco, resistance strategies, bullying and help networks for the students to name a few.

Each year the students write an essay about the program and what they learned from it. The focus of D.A.R.E. is to use real life situations and scenarios for the students to determine what choices they feel are the best. The D.A.R.E program is utilized in the Ogdensburg School district to educate the 5th grade classrooms.

The City and the Police Department are thankful to NYSCOPBA for their donation to this worthwhile program.
