The City of Ogdensburg will implement Phase 3 (Individual Assistance) of the City’s Community Support Program using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act provided directly by the United States Government. Phase 3 of the City’s program will consist of providing funds to residential homeowner’s to make critical interior and exterior repairs to their home that were not otherwise possible due to the impacts of the Global Pandemic. Details of Phase 3 can be found on the City’s website, including an application and supporting document requirements. The City of Ogdensburg believes that supporting local Americans with this money is the most efficient way to continue to stimulate the local economy and recover from the pandemic. Unlike many local governments in New York State, losses of significant revenue sources such as property tax and sales tax did not occur in St. Lawrence County, in fact, the opposite occurred in the case of the City of Ogdensburg and St. Lawrence County. More government spending is not how you stimulate the local economy and it is not how local Americans will recover.
